Factory processes and automation for de- and re-manufacturing (Horizon Europe programme)

HORIZON-CL4-2027-01-MAT-PROD-03

Objective and scope

Build more competitive and resource-efficient factories by advancing automated disassembly, repair and remanufacturing of products and high-value components.

Scope of activities

  • Assess the condition of parts and components, including predictive maintenance methods.
  • Apply AI and robotics to product handling, sorting and disassembly.
  • Use model-based approaches, CAD information and digital twins to support de- and re-manufacturing.
  • Develop on-site repair and remanufacturing of high-value components.
  • Plan efficient sequences of operations despite variations in the condition and composition of incoming products.

Proposals must address at least three of the five areas above, demonstrate the proposed factory processes and include a business case and exploitation strategy.

Expected technology development: TRL 4–5 → 6.

Eligible applicants

Eligible applicants include SMEs and start-ups, large companies, universities, research organisations and RTOs, public bodies and non-profit organisations with relevant expertise.

A standard collaborative consortium normally requires at least three independent legal entities from three different EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries, including at least one entity established in an EU Member State. Participation and funding are subject to the General Annexes and topic-specific conditions.

Consortium profiles

Manufacturers, remanufacturers, repair and maintenance providers, robotics and automation companies, digital-twin and AI specialists, equipment providers, research organisations and industrial demonstration sites.
