HORIZON-CL4-2027-01-MAT-PROD-06
Objective and scope
Accelerate the industrial uptake of advanced materials designed for circularity, with a main application in energy or construction.
Scope of activities
- Develop circular advanced materials, including recyclable polymers and composites, magnets and metal alloys suitable for additive manufacturing.
- Connect design, development and scale-up with recovery, recycling and integration into products, covering the innovation cycle from materials to market.
- Demonstrate industrial feasibility and enable circular business models and value-chain cooperation.
- Apply Safe and Sustainable by Design principles and support digitalisation and FAIR data practices where relevant.
Applicants must identify energy or construction as the main application area. Portfolio selection aims to fund at least one proposal in each area, provided the required thresholds are met. Include a credible business case and exploitation strategy.
Expected technology development: TRL 4–5 → 6.
Eligible applicants
Eligible applicants include SMEs and start-ups, large companies, universities, research organisations and RTOs, public bodies and non-profit organisations with relevant expertise.
A standard collaborative consortium normally requires at least three independent legal entities from three different EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries, including at least one entity established in an EU Member State. Participation and funding are subject to the General Annexes and topic-specific conditions.
Consortium profiles
Advanced-materials producers, polymer and composite specialists, magnet and alloy developers, manufacturers, recycling and recovery operators, energy or construction end users, RTOs and industrial demonstrator partners.
Funding
Type of action: Research and Innovation Action (RIA)
Funding rate: Up to 100%.
Total topic budget: €36 million.
Expected EU contribution per project: €5–6.5 million. Other requested amounts may be considered if justified.
Funding uses a lump sum. The project budget should cover the justified research, development, demonstration, management and exploitation activities needed to deliver the work plan.
